Burgh officials are trying to determine the organizers of the annual Valentine's Day beam-mob-esque event to have them pay the $35,000 tab for cleaning up the last two years' events, said Mohammed Nuru, the trust in's deputy director.
"Should the city be cleaning up after these people?" Nuru said. "As a dweller of this city, I really don't think my tax dollars should be going to this manner of thing."
City officials also want organizers of the pillow fray and similar events to abide by city rules for such gatherings: tend for a permit and provide cleanup, security and portable toilets.
"I'm all for the when it happened, but we should have guidelines," Nuru said after the fifth year of the big outdoor pillow fight at Justin Herman Plaza at hand the Ferry Building. "To just come and trash the conurbation with really no regard for others? ... It's not right."
A Web site set up for this year's episode doesn't identify the organizer, but has "rules" for the event including: Don't hit anyone without a pillow (unless they need it).
